From a physical perspective, it’s pretty important to keep your shoulders healthy and with an active range of motion.
If your shoulders are too tight, then your golf swing gets shortened because your shoulders can’t move through a normal backswing motion.
You might be experiencing a pain in your shoulders during your rounds or going into the evening following a round of golf.
The point is that it’s almost impossible to keep your swing on plane when your shoulders are tight.
According to golf biomechanics and physical therapists, you’re likely to see the biggest impact to
your lead shoulder, or the left shoulder in a right-handed golfer.
What are the most likely causes?
The two most common are poor technique and overuse. You can also get shoulder pain from hitting a lot of deep divots, poor execution of shots, and hitting from harder surfaces (around rocks, roots, etc.).
