How to Hit High, Mid-Iron Shots
Collin Morikawa explains how to hit a high long iron shot, specifically using a 6-iron.
The first key point is ball position;
for a high shot, the ball should be placed about one and a half to two balls forward in the stance, just inside the left foot.
The second technique involves cutting the ball to increase spin, which helps the ball rise higher. To execute this, the instructor suggests opening the stance and the clubface slightly to add loft while aiming the body left of the
target.
His approach allows for better control and softer landings on firm greens. He demonstrates the technique with a swing, emphasizing the importance of these adjustments for achieving a high trajectory shot.
